In fact ment as a book support this statue comes with 2 pieces
of course but being a Capricorn myself I liked it immediately.
Max Le Verrier was the name of the sculptor:
Max Le Verrier was born on January 29, 1891, in Neuilly-sur-Seine.
He opened his studio in 1919 and won a medal at the famed 1925
Exposition in Paris that gave Art Deco its name. Later, he established
a foundry that cast bronze sculptures for Pierre Le Faguays and
Marcel Bourain, among others. Although Le Verrier experimented
with other alloys, he continued to create pieces in bronze as well.
Le Verrier died on June 6, 1973, in Paris
This is a A.Delgado inscribed full bronze made sculpture
from Spain. Wether if this is the actual name of the sculptor
is not known to us. Example 2/6 that can be regarded as
unique (below 8 examples!) It carries an extra stamp
that says Tarragona. In its' execution it reminds us
heavily of the Antonio Miro sculptures but those are
produced in larger numbers.
The bronze has a nice patina combined
with a gold plated rest on the right.
Difficult to photograph but maybe
enough to give you an idea.
And the back of this sculpture.
By clicking on this picture one can possibly see
a bit more. Most likely an external factory that
actually made the 6 copies for the artist.
We found some other, less spectacular sculptures
from this artist at various auction sites: Amberes
and Catawiki. The first one is comparable to
our believe as production is also limited to 6
pieces. However, here beyond some more
information regarding Antonio Delgado.
